Appeal Court Reinstates Impeached Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Ebebi.

Perembowei Ebebi
The court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has reinstated Peremobowei Ebebi, the former deputy Governor of Bayelsa state who was impeached last June by the Bayelsa state house of assembly.
An appeal panel considered a petition brought to it by Alex Iziyon, SAN on behalf of the deposed deputy Governor after the state high court in Bayelsa declined jurisdiction on the matter.
Mr. Ebebi had gone to court to protest against the manner of his impeachment citing irregularities in the process.

In its ruling today, the Court of Appeal said it took judicial notice that while Mr. Ebebi's case was ongoing in court the Bayelsa state house of assembly overreached itself by commencing and concluding the impeachment of the plaintiff.

The court therefore reinstated Ebebi as the deputy Governor of Bayelsa state with full entitlement, the court also approved the motion by the plaintiff to set aside the approval of the nomination of the current deputy governor.
