Senator-Elect Remi Tinubu Booed At “Fela!” Show In Lagos.

Newly elected Senator representing Lagos Central, Mrs. Remi Tinubu, had a rough outing today at the grand finale of the highly acclaimed show “Fela,” which has been performing at the Eko Le Meridien Hotel on Victoria Island.

The incident took place during the intermission, when Mrs. Tinubu, the wife of former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, when she was introduced as one of the VIPS attending the show.   The charged crowd shouted “imposition,” referring to the manner she was forced on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), her husband’s party.

A lot of Lagosians are unhappy with Mr. Tinubu and his cohorts in the ACN for selling off the Southwest last week to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election.  That development seems to have backfired, as the ACN candidate for Tuesday’s gubernatorial contest as incumbent governor Babatunde Fashola, once described as the clear favorite to retain the governorship, has had to work extra hard in areas he had taken for granted.  That, according to political sources in Abuja, is because the PDP government, emboldened by its “victory” last week in Lagos, decided to intensify its efforts to rig out the ACN.

Mrs. Tinubu’s husband reportedly bankrolled the “Fela!” Lagos appearance.  Today’s grand finale was very well attended, with the Vice president of Ghana also in attendance.  During the interlude, he spoke about African integration.
