“Hafiz Ringim Is A PDP Hatchet Man, He Must Go!”, Lagos ACN Insists.

By Joe Igbokwe
The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has added its voice to the demand for the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, who it describes as a hatchet man for PDP’s inordinate desire to manipulate the fort coming election.

The party says that with the kind of cover Mr. Ringim is providing for many of PDP’s criminal acts en route this all important election, it is obvious that he is sworn to ensuring the police is put at the disposal of the PDP to rig the election as has been the unfortunate experience in recent years.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, the party says that Ringim’s active interest in stoking the crisis in Akwa Ibom State as well as his active collusion with PDP state governors to deny opposition parties campaign venues and hunt key opposition politicians to the pleasure of scheming PDP governors has become very embarrassing to the image of the Nigerian Police. It says that it wants it to be put on record that Ringim is no more a hatchet man employed solely to provide cover for another PDP do-and-die effort to steal yet another election.

“We should naturally be worried that Hafiz Ringim was free loaded to the IGP position from the AIG, which led to the retirement of his seniors so as to pave way for him to ascend to the position. We should have noticed that Ringim was the Commissioner for Police in Bayelsa State when President Jonathan was the Deputy Governor and indeed served as the hatchet former President Obasanjo used to enforce the illegal removal of then Governor Alameyesiegha so as to pave way for Jonathan. We should have suspected the way and manner Ringim was elevated to the head of the police force even when several senior officers were shoved aside for him to rise at this critical time of our nation’s history.

“ With the widespread reports of police collusion with incumbent governors to make things so difficult for opposition politicians in virtually all states controlled by the PDP in terms of denying opposition parties venues to campaign, with the deadly clampdown by the police on opposition politicians in the period leading to the crucial election, with the crude and illegal manner Ringim interfered in the INEC plan for the election where he issues counter directives that people should not stay for the counting of votes and should not come with phones and cameras to the polling units, it is very clear that Ringim is in  a desperate mission to compromise the coming election. With the ready and active cover the police and Ringim has been providing for PDP criminals, thugs and agents all over the country to commit brazen acts of illegality and breach the peace with reckless abandon, we wonder what Ringim wants Nigerians to believe other than that he was appointed to see PDP through another bloody electoral farce.

What however gave out Ringim in this evil plot to provide security cover for PDP to steal the coming election is the ignoble role he is now playing in Akwa Ibom State, where he has fully elected to be used as a tool in the hands of the presidency and the PDP government in Akwa Ibom State to persecute and put away the main opposition candidate in the state, Senator John Udoudehe. We are alarmed that Ringim chose to take sides with the aggresoor, who not only issued a no-go area to his opponents in a crucial election but went ahead to sponsor the cruel killing of nine CAN members and supporters in Ikot Ekpene for daring to campaign in the town.

“Nigerians are witnesses to the brazen partisanship that Ringim and his police has taken on this incident to the extent that Ringim and his police have violated a court ruling discharging Senator Udoudehe and have not only re-arrested him but openly assaulted him and are cooking up further charges with the PDP government, with the full backing of the presidency to ensure the CAN candidate is put away to prevent his eventual victory in the coming election. We may not know the further plots Ringim and his men have to ensure the election is another walk over for the rigging machinery of the PDP but we urge all Nigerians to take more than a passing interest in the activities and utterances of Ringim because they all conform to the hatchet role he was penciled to play to ensure the compromise of the coming election.

“Lagos ACN is firm in its demand for the removal of Ringim so as to ensure Nigerians are not sold another charade in the coming election. Ringim is neck deep in the PDP plan to rig the coming election. He is an active participant in the rigging process and he has shown beyond all reasonable that he is the hatchet hand and chief enforcer to PDP’s attempt to steal yet another election. We urge all Nigerians to rise up against the partisan actions of Ringim by demanding that he should be eased off or else we will rue having a political Inspector General of Police super intend over what we all consider a critical election that holds the hope for the survival of the Nigerian nation.”

Publicity Secretary,
