BREAKING NEWS: Farida sacked as EFCC chair.


The presidency announces that Ibrahim Lamorde is the new acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.
Farida Waziri, the chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been fired from her job with immediate effect.


A statement from the Presidency on Wednesday said: “The president has approved the appointment of Mr Ibrahim Lamorde as the Acting Chairman/Chief Executive of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The appointment takes immediate effect, and effectively relieves Mrs Farida Waziri of her position as EFCC Chairman”.
Waziri was appointed the boss of the anti-graft agency by late President Umaru Yar’Adua on May 18, 2008, and confirmed by the Senate on May 27, 2008.
 
Lamorde, a police officer, was the Director of Operations of the EFCC.
